Motivation is more important than natural talent
You have heard it said before that hard work beats talent every day
That is sometimes true!
However. it's really motivation that beats natural talent.
(Some would like to debate the meaning of motivation v discipline but that's a discussion for another time)
The saying goes: "Where there's a will, there's a way" and no this isn't about the indomitable power of people named Will.
The saying is true, and it pairs well with another one you may not have heard in the same breath
"Necessity is the mother of invention"
if you pair the two together: "Necessity is the mother of invention" "Where there's a will there's a way"
This phrase conveys the thought that will is sometimes manufactured by necessity and that necessity will cause you to find a way.
Try swapping them around:
"Will is the mother of invention" "Where there's a necessity there's a way"
Will itself can create necessity, will is often borne from a feeling of lack when that lack creates a desire, and therefore will.
During WW2 the Allies could not beat the trump-card of the German bombers being able to fly at night Bombing runs done at night would terrorize and demoralize the british who had no recourse-- the invention of the radar system, the eventual recourse, was a series of failed inventions and tests that may have never been successful had it not been for the funding of private individuals like Alfred Loomis - the eventual success and creation of the radar may have been the only thing that made it possible to win the war.
There are many such cases throughout history.
But what about your own life? Where do you have a necessity and will? or where do you have failed dreams that you push aside to be more practical.
Where are you coping and not fully allowing the feeling of lack to seep into your life.
If you were to let things get worse before they got better.
You may find new reserves, new inventiveness, and new creativeness for the next stage in your life.
